Tehran has sent a new proposal to the Trump Administration to end the US-Israel War on Iran.

The Iranian regime sent the proposal via Pakistan to Washington on Thursday night. Following up on Friday, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has spoken with the foreign ministers of Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Azerbaijan, and Russia.

No details were given. However, Iranian officials have said their initiative is in two stages. First, an arrangement for the Strait of Hormuz — now controlled by Iran — will be established as part of a long-term ceasefire. Then discussions will proceed over Iran’s nuclear programme.

The Trump camp has demanded that Tehran agree to a 20-year moratorium on uranium enrichment before an end to the war is confirmed. Iran has offered a 5-year pause.

The White House made no official response. Instead, Donald Trump rambled in remarks to reporters that he was not satisfied.

“Right now, we have talks going on, they’re not getting there,” he said. “They’re asking for things I can’t agree to.” He would “either blast them away or make a deal”.

Trump indicated that he would no longer send his envoys to face-to-face talks in Islamabad. Instead, negotiations would be “telephonic”.

The US and Iran had one set of discussions in Pakistan’s capital last month. However, they failed to sit down on each of the following two weekends as Tehran crafted its new proposals.

“The clock on diplomacy has not stopped,” said Tahir Andrabi, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry. “We remain hopeful of a negotiated settlement of this issue.”
