UPDATE 0954 GMT:
Israeli defense officials complain that the US has almost completely excluded them from negotiations with Iran.
They say Israel was not involved in discussions ahead of a ceasefire, declared by Donald Trump and learned of developments in the talks between the US and Tehran from regional diplomatic contacts as well as surveillance.
ORIGINAL ENTRY: The Saudi outlet Al Arabiya has published a 9-point “final draft” of a Pakistan-mediated “possible” agreement to end the US-Israel War on Iran.
Al Arabiya said on Friday that the interim agreement, with “outstanding issues” to be negotiated after it comes into force, could be announced within hours.
Neither Iran nor the Trump camp confirmed the report. Instead, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said differences between Tehran and Washington remained “deep and significant”.
However, mediator Pakistan sent military head Gen. Asim Munir to Tehran for talks “late into the night” with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the “latest efforts and diplomatic initiatives to prevent escalation”. He joined Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who has been in the Iranian capital since Wednesday. Qatar, also involved in the mediation, sent a team to Tehran.
The nine points in the document published by Al Arabiya include:
- An immediate, unconditional ceasefire on all fronts with an end to military operations and the “media war”;
- A mutual commitment not to target military, civilian, or economic infrastructure;
- Commitments to respect sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in internal affairs;
- Guaranteed freedom of navigation in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman;
- The gradual lifting of US sanctions in exchange for Iran’s commitment to the terms of the agreement;
- A joint mechanism to monitor implementation and resolve disputes.
The draft does not mention Iran’s nuclear program; its ballistic missiles; or its link with Middle Eastern groups such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Houthis, or militias in Iraq.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said there were “good signs” for a deal to end the US-Israel War. However, he said an agreement is “unfeasible” if Tehran insists on its right to charge a toll for ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

“A former senior Israeli official says Iran has emerged victorious out of the latest bout of American-Israeli aggression targeting the Islamic Republic, describing Tel Aviv and Washington as facing a difficult strategic situation…..He also stressed that the Islamic Republic’s ruling establishment remains intact, despite the aggression, saying the country demonstrated strong resilience and power throughout the aggression and was now projecting strength towards the United States and its allies.”
Trump’s Endgame Is Surrender: https://www.theatlantic.com/international/2026/05/trump-surrender-iran-endgame/687252/
“He seems to hope to slip away without Americans noticing the magnitude of this defeat………Trump has blinked many times in the confrontation with Iran—ever since March 18, when Israel attacked the Pars gas field and Iran retaliated with a strike against Qatar’s most important natural-gas-production facility. Trump then called for a halt on U.S. and Israeli targeting of Iran’s energy infrastructure, and the war effectively ended.”
