Destruction from Israeli strikes on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza (Anadolu)

I joined Dublin NewsTalk’s Pat Kenny Show on Monday to evaluate the latest in Israel’s mass killing in Gaza, explaining why there is no end in sight at this point.

We also discuss the state of opinion and politics in the US, as the Biden Administration continues to enable Israel through weapons supplies and its veto in the UN Security Council.

We conclude by contrasting the “humanizing” of Israel’s victims in this cycle of violence and the dehumanization of those in Gaza.

EA on International Media: Israel’s “Open-Ended” War v. Hamas and Gaza’s Civilians

Although the killing of three Israeli hostages by Israel’s military has sparked a backlash against the Prime Minister, Mr. Netanyahu, at this point the War Cabinet are not backing away from their assaults inside Gaza.

The international community has very little leverage unless the US cuts military aid to Israel, so the only possible barrier for Netanyahu is if domestic opinion turns against him.

And on the American front:

I have been struck by the level of public opinion against ongoing Israeli military operations, perhaps the greatest opposition since the 1967 War.

That is not reflected, however, in much of American political culture. Most of the American media tends to be supportive of the Israel Government, including the War Cabinet, and most politicians and businesses continue to be supportive as well.
