Taliban fighters along the roadside in KabuL, Afghanistan, August 16, 2021 (AFP)

I joined a panel on India Ahead News on Wednesday to consider and take apart the notion of a “moderate” Taliban, following the group’s takeover of almost all of Afghanistan, and assess the responses of different actors — from Pakistan to India to China to the UK — to its rise.

The other participants are General V.P. Malik, former Chief of Army Staff in India; former Indian diplomats Veena Sukri and Leela Ponappa; journalist Fred Weir; and Pramit Pal Chaudhuri of the Hindustan Times. The host is Bhupendra Chaubey.
