I spoke with BBC World Service’s Dan Damon on Friday morning about new documents undermining Donald Trump’s defense of his requests of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate Democratic rival Joe Biden.

The texts, between US envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker and US Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, show the diplomats assisting the months-long campaign of Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani for Ukraine to declare the investigation of Biden and of other conspiracy theories.

Listen from 27:20

Q: In a word or two, will this lead to impeachment?

A: Absolutely. And beyond that word, we are going to see more revelations — which means Donald Trump is in serious trouble and, at the very least, there will be a vote for his impeachment, probably by the end of this year.

In an interview with TRT World’s Nexus program, recorded before the release of the texts, I detailed the Trump-Giuliani campaign, based on the formal complaint of the CIA officer who worked with White House officials on Ukraine. The discussion raises and takes down various distortions and disinformation by the Trump camp to proclaim a “Deep State Coup”.
