House Democrats intend to subpoena more than 60 people and entities connected with Donald Trump, as an anxious Trump rails against the multiple investigations by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, prosecutors, and legislators.

House Judiciary Committee chair Jerry Nadler (pictured) said those subpoenaed to provide documents will include the Department of Justice, the White House and the Trump Organization. He said the material will “present the case to the American people about obstruction of justice, about corruption and abuse of power”.

Nadler, who would chair any impeachment hearings, said the process “is a long way down the road”. But he said that he believes Trump has obstructed justice.

With Democrats taking control of the House in January, after success in November’s mid-term elections, investigations are being pursued by the Judiciary, Intelligence, and Oversight committees. They are seeking Trump’s financial and tax records, an effort blocked by Republicans through the first two years of the Administration.

Meanwhile, Mueller’s Trump-Russia investigation is accompanied by inquiries at federal and state level — which have already convicted Trump aides such as Michael Cohen — into the Trump Organization, the Trump Foundation, and Trump’s campaign and inaugural committees.

Trump: Cohen Made Me Fail with Kim

On Saturday night, in the supportive environs of the Conservative Political Action Committee, Trump went on the offensive. He condemned the “bullshit” investigations, accused current and former officials of being criminals and “dirty”, and lied about Mueller’s team.

Yesterday his confidence was replaced by anger and frustration on Twitter. He began with another attempt to tear down his former long-time lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen, whose testimony last week to Congress has increased political and legal pressure.

Repeating his unique assertion that it was Democrats who committed crimes amid Russian intervention in the 2016 Presidential election, Trump declared:

After more than two years of Presidential Harassment, the only things that have been proven is that Democrats and other broke the law. The hostile Cohen testimony, given by a liar to reduce his prison time, proved no Collusion!

He complained of “Presidential Harassment by ‘crazed’ Democrats”, and accused House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff of “illegally leaking” to the media.

Trump then sought to blame Cohen’s testimony for the collapse of his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un:

His new theory was backed by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel: “While @realDonaldTrump was in Vietnam, Democrats were making bogus attacks back in DC.”
