Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, has threatened confrontation with Israel over Syria’s conflict.

Nasrallah spoke on Monday about last week’s Israeli attacks on regime and Iranian targets across the country, which Israel said was in response to the firing of 20 rockets at the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Israeli officials said the firing of the rockets — none of which landed in Israeli territory or caused casualties — was overseen by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.

Nasrallah claimed in a televised speech that 55 rockets had been fired at the Golan Heights: “The message delivered…is that neither the Syrian leadership, nor the Syrian army, nor the Syrian people, nor the allies of Syria will allow Syria to remain exposed to Israeli attacks and they are ready to go to the furthest extent.”

He said that while Israel had tried to disguise the scale of the attack, it had set the stage for “an entirely new phase” of the conflict:

If you thought that you could kill and bomb without receiving a response, then you are wrong and misguided, and the response will be in the appropriate form and time….[If you cross] red lines…[the] next bombardment will be in the heart of occupied Palestine.

Israel has periodically carried out airstrikes against regime, Iranian, and Hezbollah targets, hoping to disrupt the supply of missiles and weapons to the Lebanese organization and to restrict Iran’s military presence propping up the Assad regime.

The prospect of a confrontation on the ground has risen because of the pro-Assad recapture of the East Ghouta area near Damascus and the regime’s promise of an offensive against opposition-held territory in southern Syria on the Jordanian border and near the Golan Heights. Such an offensive would need Iranian-led militia and Hezbollah fighters to succeed.

However, Russia — which has had a de facto arrangement for military cooperation with Israel since September 2015 — implicitly checked the regime last week by accepting the Israeli strikes and then saying that it will not deliver S-300 air defense systems to Damascus.

Neither the Israeli leadership, nor the Israeli army, nor the Israeli people, nor the allies of Israel will allow Israel to remain exposed to Iranian attacks and they are ready to go to the furthest extent.

It is Iranian imperialism that is the problem, and the people of Lebanon and Gaza who suffer for it.

            • Lol – this article is 12 years old. New evidence shows how desperate Hezbollah was and how it lost all its infrastructure, bridges, offices, shops, and homes in southern Lebanon. This while just a few homes in Israel got hit by rockets. That is why Hezbollah dares not repeat its attack against Israel. For every structure it damages in Israel, it loses hundreds of millions of dollars of assets.

              • New evidence shows how desperate Hezbollah was and how it lost all its infrastructure, bridges, offices, shops, and homes in southern Lebanon.

What evidence? You are making that up of course. The recovery and clean up by Hezbllah was so efficient that Americans were siggesting the US shojld have had Hezbollah conduct the clean up in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

That is why Hezbollah dares not repeat its attack against Israel.

More like why Israel does not dare attack Hezbollah. The 2006 war set Israel back billions and as always they ran back to Uncle Sam asking to get bailed out. They eve. Ran iutnif bombs after 2 weeks.

            • Hezb was sent back 20yrs in 2006. Thats why you dident hear of them untill lately. And in Syria. Never against israel. 2006 taught them a very hard lesson

              • Nasrallah became the most popular figure in the Arab world even among Sunnis. Politically it marked the beginning of Hezbollah’s ascendancy and thanks to Israel’s stupidity, led to a political and social unification with Marionite Christians. They now make up a good number of Hezbollah’s ranks.

Olmert was forced to appoint the Winograd Commission to investigate why 2006 was such a disastrous failure for Olmert. The head of the IDF lost his job over the disastrous campaign.

Israel had to resort to Cast Lead to in their own words, restore their “deterrence capability” that they clearly believe they list in 2006.

      • It was disproportional — but Israel had given all the warnings necessary that it will shoot to kill. In fact it did not shoot to kill, or there would have been 1,000 dead instead of 55.

War crime? No. Hamas initiated the attack and not only did it goad young illiterate men with no life seeking martyrdom and entry into heaven to attack the fence, but it was also lobbing grenades and molotov cocktails from behind the crowd at the IDF.

Problem is that if Israel does not show a heavy hand, this will entice the terrorists to attack Israel more often, resulting in more and larger conflicts. Gazans have to justify receiving billions of dollars of aid while making a cesspool ghetto out of Gaza Strip. So every once in a while they have to expend some cannon fodder, and pass the blame to Israel. Everyone there knows that. It is just a matter of smart planning to get 100 useless men killed by the Israelis. There is no value on life in Gaza Strip. Martyrdom brings them more money and the guy is now in heaven. win-win

        • Bin Laden gave the US many warnings AQ would attack if it did not abide by his demands. By your logic, 911 was disproportionate but justified.

Israel claims it no longer occupies Gaza. That means it has no authority to issue threats as to how close Palestinians get to the border provided they don’t cross it.

In fact it did not shoot to kill, or there would have been 1,000 dead instead of 55.

That would explain the dead children and reporters, as well as those shot while praying, or running to collect old tires.

War crime? Absolutely. Israel are the ones attacking. If the victims had been a mob of Jewish settlers rampaging through Hebron, it would be described as a pogrom.

Over 100 killed since the protests began. Most of the dead were unarmed and didn’t get within 50m of the fence. There were no grenades. If Molotov cocktails had been thrown from behind the crowd, they wouldn’t have landed near the fence, let alone reach the IDF.

Israel have to justify receiving billions of dollars of aid, the occupation and land theft, while making an open air prison out of Gaza.

So every once in a while they have to – in their own words – “mow the lawn” in Gaza, and pass the blame to Hamas.

Killing Palestinians is a national pastime in Israel. We have footage of IDF snipers cheering each other on.

          • “That would explain the dead children and reporters, as well as those shot while praying, or running to collect old tires.”

Running to collect old tires? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL thats the best line you’ve put out in a while. That is hilarious!

              • Maybe I do, but your lies and bullshit are always entertaining to me. Not really, but it kind of is. I do find what you promote sad. And I’d argue your mind is far more sick than mine, based on your postings, lies, and defense of murderers

              • Maybe I do, but your lies and bullshit are always entertaining to me.

The video I linked to is lies and bullshit?

I do find what you promote sad.

I can understand how coming to terms with the limits of US power and the decline of the empire would make you sad.

And I’d argue your mind is far more sick than mine, based on your postings, lies, and defense of murderers

The US and it’s allies do a lot of murdering, including 62 murdered by Israel. You have no problem with that is seems.

    • <iNeither the Israeli leadership, nor the Israeli army, nor the Israeli people, nor the allies of Israel will allow Israel to remain exposed to Iranian attacks

Why should Syria and it’s allies allow Syria to remain exposed to attacks? Israel has been the overwhelming aggressor, boasting of having carried out over 100 attacks on Syria.

It is Iranian imperialism that is the problem, and the people of Lebanon and Gaza who suffer for it.

Remind us again who is illegally occupying the Golan Heights? Hezbollah are Lebanese people and recently won parliamentary elections.

  2. Bluster, bluster, and more bluster. Don’t these Arabs understand that the more you bluster the weaker you actually are?

“Nasrallah claimed in a televised speech that 55 rockets had been fired at the Golan Heights:”

So much for the conspiracy theorists who said that Israel had fired the rockets unto itself, or pretended that rockets were fired, so that it could take out the Iranian assets. Just shows never to believe fake news from people like Andre and the pro-Assad crowds.

    • Bluster, bluster, and more bluster. Don’t these Arabs understand that the more you bluster the weaker you actually are?

Bluster? By your own admission, Hezbollah kicked Israel’s ass in 2006. What’s more, Hezbollah have never been stronger. Even Israeli generals rate Hezbollah as among the most powerful armies forces in the world. They even admit they cannot defeat Hezbollah.

Pretty impressive for a fighting force with no Air Force or Navy

      • And what is the point of Hezbollah ? It is an arm of the Iranian government, set up to try to destroy Israel so that the Khomeiniists are not faced by any obstacles in their campaign to control territory from Iran to the Mediterranean.

You can argue over the West Bank, but Israel has no intention of expanding into Lebanon, and it no longer occupies Gaza.

The root of the surrounding of Israel with hostile forces lies in Khameini’s mind.

      • Lol – when did I ever say anything approaching that?

In 2006, Hezbollah lost so much infrastructure and homes in south Lebanon that the place has turned into a ghetto. Masses of Shiites had to emigrate to Beirut as they lost their homes and lands. Even after 12 years, southern Lebanon looks like a moonface. This is what happens when “powerful” Hezbollah tries to challenge Israel.

        • In 2006, Hezbollah lost so much infrastructure and homes in south Lebanon that the place has turned into a ghetto.

And you know this based in what? When were you last there? I have visited and the place is thriving and largely rebuilt.

The US managed to destroy much of Vietnam and still lost.

  3. Lots of BS from hezbollah fan boys. hezbollah is NOTHING without iran’s money, and iran is deepest shit on all fronts that is has ever been….
