In a 58-minute special, I joined The Focus’s John Bruni on Wednesday for a deep dive into Donald Trump’s role in the damage of the world in 2026.
I begin with John’s question, “Is the United States still the stabilizing force of the international system — or has it become part of the instability?”
I respond with my starting point of “fundamental realignments” of the post-1945 international system, spurred by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, China’s pursuit of an alternative system, and the Trump camp’s destructive actions.
We look at specific aspects such as the US-Israel War on Iran, the Trump’s camp assault on Europe and NATO, the threatened political culture in the US — and whether China is the big winner from the Trumpian instability.
Then we go wider to consider global issues over conflict, energy, and technology. Doing so, we look at power, disorder, and chaos — and whether there is a way back to a productive politics and community.
