EA on LBC: “Operation Economic Cockup” — How Trump Undermined US with His War on Iran

I joined Pakistan TV’s Experts Corner on Wednesday for a 30-minute deep dive into the state of the US War on Iran and the “uncontained war” across the region.

I explain how the Trump Administration pulled back from a possible resolution this summer with the Memorandum of Understanding. I look at US attacks inside Iran and Iranian retaliation and the escalation between Yemen’s Houthis and Saudi Arabia.

I play out possible scenarios for an “off ramp” but conclude this is unlikely before the US mid-term elections in November — and maybe after that.

I spoke with Pakistan’s Express 24-7 on Wednesday about the escalation of US and Iranian attacks and the spread of the “uncontained war” across the region.

I consider US strike on Iranian oil tankers, part of the effort to break Tehran’s economy, and Iran’s retaliation on Gulf States and Jordan. I look at the surge in confrontation between Yemen’s Houthis and Saudi Arabia, and I examine the position of Israel as it pursues occupation of southern Lebanon.

Is there any way out of further damage to the regional and global economy?

ORIGINAL ENTRY, SEPT 3: I joined Pakistan TV’s Sana Maqbool on Thursday to analyze the spike in attacks in the US War on Iran, with no prospect of talks to end the assault.

I establish the immediate cause of the latest US strikes inside Iran and Tehran’s retaliation, as the Americans try to break Iranian control of the Strait of Hormuz. Then I explain how and why the Trump camp has abandoned the Memorandum of Understanding, in favor of an ill-conceived economic war with no apparent chance of success.
