EA-Ukraine VideoCast: Can Russia Hold Out in Occupied Crimea?

EA on WION: Ukraine’s Pressure on The Kremlin’s Invasion

I joined Kate Gerbeau of Times Radio’s Frontline on Thursday to examine latest developments in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, including pressure on Vladimir Putin from Ukrainian counter-attacks and the possible cutoff of occupied Crimea.

We begin the 27-minute chat with Russia’s latest deadly aerial attacks on Ukraine’s civilians. I look at the need for anti-ballistic missile systems and how Kyiv is trying to obtain them, particularly given the obstacle of the Trump camp.

Then we talk about Ukraine’s move from resistance to strength and how it is affecting the invasion. While cautioning that Putin will not easily give up and accept a ceasefire, I note how the threat to Crimea could undo his position at home.

I also talk about the Kremlin’s attempted way out: manipulation of the Trump camp to force Ukraine to surrender more territory.
