I joined Dublin NewsTalk’s Pat Kenny Show on Saturday in an 18-minute examination of the Trump camp’s assault on American democracy.

We begin with a review of the dysfunctional spectacle of Trump’s unfunny, insult-filled monologue at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

Then I analyze other, more serious speeches: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s invocation of a 21st-century Red Scare, senior advisor Stephen Miller’s attack on all political opponents as a “cancer” in American society, and Trump’s White House address setting the pretext for manipulation or even overturning of November’s elections.

The Trump threat, I conclude, is “hiding in plain sight”.
