UPDATE 1203 GMT:

The G7 nations — Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, the UK, and the US — have agreed to provide Ukraine with around $50 billion in loans.

The funds are backed by the profits from interest on frozen Russian assets abroad.

“Our aim is to begin disbursing the funds by the end of the year,” the G7 said in a statement.

ORIGINAL ENTRY: At least four civilians have been killed and 20 injured by Russia’s missile strikes on residential buildings and the Mechnikov Hospital in Dnipro in south-central Ukraine.

Among the dead is a child. Four of the wounded are juveniles, including an 8-year-old girl and a teenage boy.

A police officer, his wife, and two daughters were trapped under rubble. The officer and his younger daughter were rescued, but his wife and eldest daughter were killed.

The attack damaged 13 apartment buildings and two houses as well as the hospital, which treats soldiers who have suffered serious injuries on the frontline, on Friday night.

The Russians also killed a 14-year-old girl in Kyiv.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy commented:

This war, now in its third year, has only one culprit — Moscow. That is why there must be pressure on the aggressor, strong enough to compel an end to terror and war.

Lasting peace and security are achieved only through strength and resolve.

The Russians have regularly struck civilian site in Dnipro, Ukraine’s fourth-largest city with a pre-invasion population of about one million.

In January 2023, more than 40 people were slain in Russian strikes denounced as “cowardly” by Zelenskiy. Hospitals were also attacked in May 2023 and July 2024.
