With terms such as “far right”, “white nationalism”, and even “fascism” prevalent today, what can we learn from the past and present of Italy?

Al Jazeera English journalist Barbara Serra (pictured) discusses her documentary “Fascism in the Family” with Dr. Daniele Albertazzi of the University of Birmingham and EA’s Scott Lucas.

She explains the personal journey in the film, having discovered her grandfather’s role in the Mussolini regime, and discusses authoritarianism through history and analysis of whether Italy has deal with its fascist past.

The event was organized by the Festival of Social Sciences at the University of Birmingham.
