Donald Trump and his campaign surrogate Scottie Nell Hughes
In a 25-minute discussion with BBC Ulster’s William Crawley on Wednesday, I participated in a demonstration of Trumpian, life-threatening disinformation and smear tactics over Coronavirus.
The lesson comes from the other panelist, Trump supporter and Coronavirus denier Scottie Nell Hughes. She echoes Trump with a series of false claims assailing the top White House Coronavirus expert Dr. Anthony Fauci and blaming anyone else — China, the World Health Organization, State Governors, and Democrats — for a pandemic which has killed almost 150,000 Americans with close to 4.5 million confirmed cases.
I lay out the facts on the virus, as well as on Black Lives Matter marches, and look at Trump’s chances for re-election amid his campaign — vividly portrayed by Hughes — of disinformation and “culture war”
