The shock of discovering that the US healthcare system is completely unprepared to deal with this crisis should automatically have triggered wider conversations about spending priorities that entailed deep and sustained cuts to the security budget….

Bernie Sanders’ reasonable suggestion that America, like Denmark, should nationalize its healthcare system is dismissed as a pipe dream rather than the obvious solution to a human problem.
