Following sweeping victories by Democrats against the GOP on Tuesday, in which has been seen as a verdict on the first nine months of the Trump Presidency, I spoke with BBC World Service yesterday about the prospects for the Republicans and Donald Trump.
The conversation with Dan Damon includes a projection of a “civil war” within the GOP, a summary of some reasons for the Democratic triumph — “a much more tolerant line on immigration, a much more tolerant line on LGBT rights, an embrace of Obama, a response to Trump’s main policies and saying, ‘We don’t want to go there'” — a consideration of Democratic “unity”, and a spirited exchange about whether Trump will still be in office for the Congressional mid-term elections in November 2018.
Donald Trump is under investigation for obstruction of justice, and we’re also getting an accumulation of evidence that links his top advisor with Russian contacts. It may not be collusion yet but….
