I spoke with BBC Three Counties Radio on Friday about a pair of developments in Trumpland — the partial introduction of the “Muslim Ban” and the story that stole the headlines, Trump’s Twitter assault on news presenter Mika Brzezinski.
I sift the confusion over the extent of the ban to get to the key point — it will largely be implemented not by blocking people at US airports, but by denying visa applications abroad — while noting: “The Administration is splitting hairs, but of course splitting hairs has serious effects for people who are being barred from seeing family in the US for an indefinite period.”
Then a chat about Trump’s misogyny and war on journalists: “This raises serious questions about his attitude towards women, which we saw in the campaign, and about his attempt to shut down the media….This has gotten to the point where the White House and the President are using the threat of blackmail because they don’t like being criticized.”
