I joined Frontline’s Philip Ingram on Wednesday for a 30-minute deep dive into Vladimir Putin trying to rescue his 4 1/2-year, full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

With Russian forces stalled on the frontlines, we discuss how the Kremlin is trying to use airpower to break Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure. Can Ukraine be bolstered against this, particularly with anti-ballistic missiles, before the winter?

I comment on Moscow turning to North Korea for assistance with the ballistic missile strikes and possibly with 10,000s of troops.

Then we take on the big question: will Putin finally resort to mass mobilization, stripping away the pretence of his “special military operation”? What will be the effect on the Russian population and their attitude towards the invasion?

I also discuss the possibility of another Kremlin initiative to manipulate the Trump camp, as Moscow releases US citizen Robert Gilman from detention.

And I return to the air defense issue to establish the current position on US licenses for joint production of anti-ballistic missiles, as well as cooperation with Ukraine over drone technology and production.

We conclude with a look at the successes and failures of Russian political warfare since 2014, trying to split societies in Europe and the US and intervening in elections.
