EA-Ukraine Special: A Sitdown in Dublin to Analyze Russia’s Invasion

I joined Ukrainian journalist Daniel Tkiie on Monday for a 27-minute deep dive into developments around Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, including signs that US officials — despite Donald Trump’s unpredictability — are working on support for Kyiv.

We begin with US licenses for joint production of anti-ballistic missiles, needed to counter Russia’s airstrikes. While Trump has publicly pulled back from his acceptance, I assess how US officials and companies are ensuring that development of the proposal continues.

I note how US intelligence agencies are briefing the media that the Administration is finally assessing the expansion of Russia’s political warfare and sabotage operations into Europe.

I then look at Turkey’s proposed sale of 70 US-made M39 ATACMS ballistic missiles, more than 2,500 cluster rockets, and tens of thousands of 203-mm artillery shells in a $280 million package. I note how the State Department, in a note to Congress, has indicated its approval of the deal.

We also discuss the latest difficulties for the Trump camp’s War on Iran as Tehran maintains its control of the Strait of Hormuz.
