EA-Ukraine Video: The Economic Walls Close on Russia’s Invasion — Will Trump Rescue The Kremlin?
I joined Dublin NewsTalk’s Pat Kenny Show and LBC’s Matt Frei Show on Saturday to analyze another chaotic week in TrumpLand, from Ukraine’s defense against Russia to the failing war on Iran to the “stench of corruption” amid grandiose projects for Trump’s ego.

In a 16-minute chat, I begin with Ukraine’s move from resistance to strength despite the Trump camp’s abandonment of its security. I set out Ukrainian strikes inside Russia, including on St. Petersburg to overshadow Vladimir Putin’s International Economic Forum, and President Volodymyr Zelensky seizing the political initiative with an open letter to Putin.
I then detail the Administration’s retreat from an Iranian framework to end the US-Israel War but explain how it has no apparent options to regain the initiative.
I explain how some Republicans have shown dissatisfaction, voting for a war powers resolution to require Congressional authorization of military operations. From there, it’s a jump to a group of GOP legislators challenging — but not yet scuttling — Trump’s vanity projects such as the White House ballroom and the proposed arch blocking the view of the Washington Mall.

We begin with the complications over Trump’s position on AI, with a declared tightening of regulations competing with the Donald and his family benefiting from their close relationship with the “tech bros.”
Then I work through the grift and ego around Trump’s attempt to put his image across Washington — and the $1.776 billion slush fund to reward his friends, donors, and Capitol Attack rioters — and whether the handful of Republicans expressing concern will make a difference.
It’s one thing for Trump to have this lovely Reflecting Pool which doesn’t reflect, this arch which is bigger than the Arc de Triomphe in Paris — “Look at me! Look at me” — and another for Republican legislators who are not sure that they are being helped in November’s elections.
We also work through Ivanka Trump’s “Let Them Eat Cake and Their Eco-System” promotion of how she and husband Jared Kushner are buyihg up an island off Albania, threatening the environment in the process. I note how it fits a Trumpian culture of entitlement which proposed a similar project for Gaza amid its destruction: “Mar-a-Lago Across The World”.
We conclude by asking whether Trump’s ego and destruction will overshadow this summer’s World Cup.
