EA-Ukraine VideoCast: Putin’s Threat to Assassinate Zelensky

In a 34-minute analysis, I joined Ukraine journalist Daniel Tkiie on Monday to examine how Russia’s invasion is facing economic pressure, including Ukraine’s strikes on its oil sector.

With the Russians stalled on the frontlines, I begin with the Kremlin’s latest attempt to prompt the Trump Administration into demanding Ukraine’s surrender.

The Russian way out of this is not military but political. Get the Americans to demand not only that Ukraine halt counter-attacks, but that it gives up territory.

I explain why that attempt fell flat and then address Russia’s economic situation, including rationing of gasoline and diesel fuel and the Finance Minister’s warning that all departments — except those waging the invasion — must cut spending.
