I joined the Irish Independent’s Indo Daily podcast on Thursday to analyze if Secretary of State Marco Rubio, eyeing a Presidential run in 2028, can benefit from the Trump Administration’s failing war on Iran.
First, I set out the latest in the war. I consider the maneuvers around Iran’s proposed framework deal, with the Trump camp almost confirming it last weekend and then pulling back amid criticism that they are conceding too much to Tehran.
Then I note why Rubio, with little involvement in the opening weeks of the war, has been prominent recently. His tactic could work if there is relief over a framework deal, even giving Iran’s success in defining the terms, but he could suffer if Donald Trump does not confirm the long-term ceasefire.
