Vladimir Putin has said there is no confirmation of a 1,000-for-1,000 exchange of prisoners of war with Ukraine as part of this weekend’s three-day ceasefire.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said the swap would be part of the halt of attacks.
But Putin said on Saturday, “We are counting on the Ukrainian side to respond to the proposal made by the president of the United States. Unfortunately, we still have not received any proposals so far.”
ORIGINAL ENTRY: Having demanded a three-day ceasefire for its Victory Day ceremonies in Moscow on Saturday, Russia has broken it with attacks across Ukraine.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed to the ceasefire after a call from Donald Trump, pledging not to strike the scaled-back ceremonies in Red Square.
But the Russians murdered at least one civilian and injured at least 19 others over the past day. Air defenses prevented further casualties by intercepting all 27 drones launched by Russian forces.
The fatality was in the Zaporizhzhia region in the south. Three others were wounded. Governor Ivan Fedorov said the Russians carried out 780 strikes on 33 settlements.
A Russian drone slammed into a residential building in Ukraine’s second city Kharkiv overnight. Five people, including two 8-year-old boys, suffered shock.
Three civilians were wounded elsewhere in the region.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region in the southeast, a 3-year-old girl was moderately injured during Russian drone strikes.
In the Donetsk region in the east, four people were injured amid 18 attacks. Multi-story residential buildings, houses, cars, and a shop were damaged.
In the Kherson region in the south, seven people, including a child, were injured. A multi-story apartment building and eight private homes were damaged.
In the Sumy region in the northeast, a 47-year-old man was injured after a Russian drone struck a car. More than 50 attacks were recorded across 18 settlements.
