EA on RTE and BBC: Trump’s Visit to Ireland
EA’s Liam Kennedy and I joined international media on Saturday to analyze Ireland’s survival of Donald Trump’s visit.
We explain how Irish leaders dealt effectively with Trump to avoid any political fallout. However, they could not stop him lying or causing disruption over issues from Irish unification to his failing War on Iran to Saudi Arabia’s concern over the Houthi advance in Yemen.
After a 40-minute ramble which lost the audience at the US Ambassador’s resident in Dublin, Trump left for the Irish Open on his golf course in western Ireland.
Many of us waved goodbye, “Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.”

I joined a panel on Ireland’s RTE analyzing the visit in real time time, including Trump’s press appearance along Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin and his 40-minute ramble at the US Ambassador’s residence.
The other panellists are Ambassador Dan Mulhall, communications consultant Gina London, and journalist Marian McKeone.
