EA on DW News: Trump Fails in His War on Iran
UPDATE, JUNE 22:
I joined India’s WION on Sunday to assess the opening of the US-Iran talks in Switzerland, including whether they could be derailed on Israel’s attacks on Lebanon.
I set out Iran’s approach and how the regime has been able to base the talks on their “wish list” over the Strait of Hormuz, hundreds of billions of dollars in return for reopening the waterway, and deferring discussion of its nuclear program to a later stage.
Less than three months ago, the Americans and the Israelis were trying to bomb the regime out of existence. Now US Vice President J.D. Vance is saying, “These are people we can deal with.”
But I explain how their plan — and Vance’s hope to boost his Presidential ambitions with a deal — could be derailed by the Israel-Lebanon issue.

ORIGINAL ENTRY, JUNE 20: I joined a panel on India’s News 9 on Friday to analyze how Israel’s attacks on Lebanon are threatening talks to end the US War on Iran.
I examine how the Netanyahu Government, failing to get regime change in Iran, is seeking a zone of occupation at least 10 km deep inside southern Lebanon. I juxtapose the rationale that Israel is pushing back Hezbollah with almost 4,000 Lebanese killed since March 2 and around 1.2 million — 20% of the country’s population — displaced.
I explain how Israel’s strikes on Beirut almost blocked a US-Iran Memorandum of Cooperation, and how its assault on Friday across southern Lebanon postponed discussions for implementation of the document.
Along the way, I take apart the propaganda of Israeli commentator Itay Mediana. The other analyst is Raja Karthikeya of the Takshashila Institute.
