I joined DW News’s Brent Goff on Thursday to analyze Donald Trump’s failure in his war on Iran, demonstrated in a Memorandum of Understanding based largely on Iranian terms.
Pushing aside Trump’s rhetoric, I assess those terms with Iran benefiting over the Strait of Hormuz, the lifting of the US naval blockade the potential of hundreds of billions of dollars, and its nculear program. The Iranian regime is in a “much better political position” than it was before the war.
I consider the impact of US-Israel relations, with the Israelis defying the memorandum’s provision for ceasefires on all fronts including Lebanon.

“Democratic strategist James Carville mocked the memorandum of understanding reached by the Trump administration with Iran, arguing it effectively shows that the U.S. lost the war just as the country readies for its 250th birthday.Carville called the deal an “instrument of surrender” during an interview Thursday night with Chris Cuomo, the host of NewsNation’s “Cuomo.”
However, Trump can still “win” by bringing 47 years of hostility between Iran and the U.S to an end.
