EA-Ukraine VideoCast: Zelensky Plays His Cards v. Russia and Trump
I joined Ukrainian journalists Sofia Nazarenko and Daniel Tkiie on Thursday, amid Russia’s murder of 38 civilians and wounding of more than 150 in attacks with more than 1,600 drones and scores of missiles.
In the 29-minute video, we discuss Ukraine’s response — both the immediate strikes inside Russia and the longer-term maneuvers for political and military support. I highlight Kyiv’s leverage with its advances in drone technology and production.
Referring to talks between US and Ukrainian officials about cooperation over drones, I summarize:
Donald Trump said President Zelensky had no cards to play.
Guess what? Ukraine came up with a couple of aces up its sleeve: “We’ve got the drone technology. We can produce drones quickly and at a relatively low cost. Let’s talk.”
And there are some people in Washington start enough to realize that Ukraine’s security is linked to what the US is doing in the Middle East and Iran.
We also discuss developments in UK politics and their effect on support for Ukraine, Europe’s role’s in negotiations, and the corruption trial of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s former Chief of Staff Andrii Yermak.
