I joined Times Radio’s Darryl Morris early Sunday for a 50-minute Week in Review from Iran to the US to the UK.
Listen to Discussion from 2:05.51
We begin with the first day of Israel-US strikes on Iran, just before official confirmation of the killing of the Supreme Leader. I consider the efforts for regime change, the consequences for Iranians, and the effect across the region.
I open the second half by looking at the curious story of the Pentagon’s use of AI. Anthropic was dropped and smeared by the Trump camp as “woke” because of its insistence on ethical guidelines. However, days later OpenAI said it had won the Department of Defense contract — while claiming to have ensured the same guidelines that led to Anthropic’s banishment.
I discuss the “non-event” of Bill and Hillary Clinton testifying behind closed doors to the Trumpist-led House Oversight Commitee about the late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. I ask, as the White House continues its stonewall over the Epstein Files, “Why isn’t Donald Trump testifying as well?”
I conclude with the dramatic success of the Green Party in a by-election in northwest England. Highlighting the positive campaign of the victor Hannah Spencer, a local plumber, I consider if the UK can reconcile what is now a European multi-party politics with a “first past the post” electoral system.
