EA-Times Radio VideoCast: Trump’s Authoritarian Power Grab in Los Angeles

I joined Times Radio’s Trump Report on Thursday for a 29-minute deep dive into the Trump Administration’s threat to the Australia-UK-US nuclear submarines deal; Donald Trump’s falsehood about a US-China “trade deal”; and an update on Trump’s authoritarian power grab, disappearing migrants and deploying military units in Los Angeles.

I begin by chatting to host Jo Crawford about the “Pentagon official” who said the AUKUS deal in 2021 is being reviewed to ensure it is in line with “America First”. I consider whether the threat is serious, and how it makes no military sense from the standpoint of Washington and its approach to the Asia-Pacific region.

I move to China, which — in contrast to Trump’s declaration — has said that Monday-Tuesday talks with an American delegation in London were about a “framework” over tariffs and Beijing’s provision of rare earth minerals to the Americans.

And we conclude with Trump’s latest posturing, at the expense of thousands of migrants and asylum seekers each day, to militarize US politics; bypass courts, the Constitution, and State governments; and expand his powers.
