UPDATE 0949 GMT:

Pursuing its mass deportations of immigrants and asylum seekers, the Trump Administration suggested in late January that Ukraine accept an “unspecified number”.

The proposal was conveyed through a “senior American diplomat”. A Ukrainian diplomat told the US Embassy that there would be an answer after a position was established on the issue.

“Two Ukrainian officials familiar with the situation” said the proposal was not discussed at the highest level of the Zelensky Government. One said he was unaware of any “political demands” from the Administration to accept deportees.

UPDATE 0916 GMT:

Ukrainian drones reportedly struck the Kubinka military airfield during their operations near Moscow on Tuesday.

Kubinka is a base for MiG-29 and Su-27 fighter jets which attack Ukraine.

Ukraine also hit Russia’s only drone fiber optic plant. The facility in Saransk, more than 600 km (372 miles) east of Moscow, was set on fire.

Early this morning, drones targeted a manufacturer of missiles and rocket systems in Tula, 182 km (113 miles) south of Moscow.

Internet outages have been reported in at least 30 cities and towns in western and central Russia, including St. Petersburg and Moscow. Banks, shops, and taxis are warning that services could be interrupted.

An estimated 60,000 passengers are waiting several hours for flights in Moscow airports which have been shut or limited in operations since Monday morning.

Three children were hospitalized with burns, and one adult is being treated.

Explosions were reported around 1 a.m. and 4:30 a.m.

The Russians launched four ballistic missiles and 142 drones overnight.

On Tuesday three people, including a child, were murdered and at least 11 injured by a Russian ballistic missile fired on a suburb of Sumy city in northeast Ukraine.

The missile targeted civilian infrastructure around 5:30 p.m. Most of the injured are children, with one in extremely serious condition.

Four residents were killed and 10 injured in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky commented this morning:

Only significantly intensified pressure on Russia and stronger sanctions can pave the way to diplomacy. Any measures depriving the aggressor of resources to wage war must be implemented to bring lasting peace.

Zelensky is seeking help from allies to finance and develop interceptor drones to knock down Russia’s Iran-type attack drones: “We will develop this direction as much as possible and each region will have its own responsibility specifically for this task.”

The Assault on Kyiv

In Kyiv, drone debris struck several residential buildings in the Dnipro, Shevchenkivskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi neighborhoods.

In Shevchenkivskyi, the bodies of two people were discovered after a drone struck a 5-story residential building.

The 29th and 30th floors of an apartment block were destoryed. A supermarket, post office branch, and cars were damaged.

Russia has escalated strikes on civilians in recent weeks, including deadly attacks on Kyiv.

On April 24, amid 70 missiles and 145 drones fired across the country by the Russians, 12 civilians were murdered and 90 injured in the capital. On May 4, a drone attack injured 11 people, including 2 children, and damaged a shopping mall.
