EA-Times Radio VideoCast: Can Ukraine and Europe Get Trump Administration’s Support?

James Waterhouse, the BBC’s correspondent in Kyiv, and I joined Ireland’s RTE Radio 1 on Tuesday to analyze the latest developments in Russia’s 38-month full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

We explain Vladimir Putin’s sham Easter “ceasefire”, review the political and military situation, and assess whether Ukraine — with the support of European partners — can withstand the threat of Russia’s ultimata and Donald Trump’s unpredictable, ego-driven behavior.

I evaluate how Putin is trying to regain the diplomatic initiative, having lost it to Ukraine since direct US-Russia talks in February.

The maximum Kremlin objectives rebounded against them because they could not get that photo opportunity that Donald Trump want.

Ukraine and Europe still have the diplomatic high ground because they are welcoming a ceasefire whereas the Kremlin will not.

I then consider whether a Trump Administration proposal for Ukraine to cede Crimea to Russia and give up NATO membership will hand “victory” to Putin.
