UPDATE 2058 GMT:
I also spoke with RTE Radio 1’s Justin McCarthy on Sunday as part of a series of interviews about Europe’s approach following the Trump-Vance ambush of Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.
There is a question about tactics. You are not going to repair the relationship by going to Trump and Vance.
Vance is politically ambitious and wants to side with Russia against Ukraine. And Trump’s ego is just too fragile and unpredictable.
So you’ve got to get to others within the Administration. But are there any adults in the room?

ORIGINAL ENTRY: As European leaders gathered in London on Sunday to discuss security for Ukraine amid Russia’s three-year invasion, I joined France 24 English and Poland’s TVP World to consider the possibilities after the Trump Administration’s attempt to humiliate Kyiv and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Watch TVP World
The 12-minute analysis considers the effect of a US suspension of aid to Ukraine, Europe’s capabilities and proposals as it tried to fill the gap, and the consequences of a Trumpist breaking of the trans-Atlantic alliance.

In a six-minute interview, I explain:
The stakes not only for Ukraine but also Europe and maybe the world may be the highest since 1945.
We are seeing whether Russia will be allowed to overrun part of its neighbor Ukraine and to continue killing its civilians. We are seeing the possibility of Russia expanding those attacks.
Here’s the difference: for the first time in 84 years, the US Government is not allied with Europe or with other partners around the world to deal with that threat.
The Trump Administration is not only standing aside from those alliances. It could be argued that it is supporting the Kremlin.
