Ukraine War, Day 1,103: Europe Stands With Zelensky and Ukrainians
UPDATE, MAR 4:
I spoke with Dublin NewsTalk’s Pat Kenny Show on Monday about the ongoing assault by Donald Trump and J.D. Vance on Volodymyr Zelensky, and its effect on Ukraine’s resistance of Russia’s three-year invasion.
Listen from 12:14:
I review Friday’s assault on Zelensky in the White House — “a set-up by Vance and other Trump advisors” — as part of a campaign by those within the White House opposing any aid to Ukraine and any alliance with European countries.
I assess if there will be any pushback, particularly from Republicans in Congress, against the abandonment of Kyiv.
I think a lot of Americans will be concerned at this crude, bullying attempt to put down the leader of a country which has fighting since 2014, and especially since 2022, against being conquered by a neighbor.
I think a lot of Americans will be concerned that that neighbor is Vladimir Putin’s Russia.
But remember that the tactics of Trump, Vance, and Elon Musk is to flip the narrative into casting Volodymyr Zelensky as the bad person, the evil person.
ORIGINAL ENTRY, MAR 2: I joined Al Jazeera’s Inside Story on Saturday to analyze the attempt by Donald Trump and J.D. Vance to humiliate Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, his country, and his people.
I detail the verbal attack in the White House, with the likely confirmation that the Trump Administration will cut all aid to Kyiv as it pursues direct talks with Vladimir Putin over Russia’s invasion.
Michael Bociurkiw of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center and I evaluate the response of Ukraine, of Europe, and of the international community. We also take apart the talking points of pro-Kremlin activist Glenn Diesen.
