Building damaged by an Israeli airstrike near Damascus, Syria, November 14, 2024

Israeli airstrikes have killed 15 people and injured 16 others in suburbs of Syria’s capital Damascus, says Syrian State news agency SANA.

Assad regime officials said two residential buildings were hit, one in Mezzeh in southern Damascus and the other in Qudsaya, west of the capital.

Israeli Army radio said targets were assets and the headquarters of the Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad.

During the Syrian uprising against the Assad regime from March 2011, Israel has regularly struck positions of the regime and its essential supporters, Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

The strikes have persisted amid the Hamas mass killing inside Israel in October 2023 and Israeli mass killings in Gaza since then. The Israelis have also assassinated a series of Iranian commanders and officials.
