In a 65-minute videocast, I join The Focus’s John Bruni for a detailed analysis of the violence and tensions in the Middle East, beginning with Israel’s open-ended wars in Gaza and Lebanon.
The episode was filmed days before Israel’s airstrikes on Iran early Saturday, but I anticipate how the confrontation will play out — the Israelis making their point in retaliation for Iran’s firing of 181 ballistic missiles on October 1, but calibrating the strikes so Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu maintains his personal and political priority of the attacks in Gaza and Lebanon.
I consider the position of other countries in the region and whether they will get drawn into an escalating conflict, and of the US and others in an international community which appears to be on the sidelines
