Donald Trump speaks with Elon Musk, August 12, 2024

EA on Navjeet Grewal’s VideoCast: Taking on the Trump-Vance-Musk Threat

UPDATE, AUG 14:

I joined Times Radio’s Rosie Wright on Tuesday night to analyze the first “solo” campaign rally of Kamala Harris’s Vice Presidential pick Tim Walz and the Donald Trump-Elon Musk conversation.

I evaluate the enthusiasm around the Harris campaign and the “solid performer” Walz, contrasting that with the failure of the Trump appearance.

Trump’s advisors and his donors are telling him and his running J.D. Vance, “Focus on the issues.”

But rather than the appearance of a “fact-based” approach, Trump is going “insult-based”.

Wright and I note the resulting contrast beyond a “negative” Trump-Vance campaign and the momentum of a “positive”, even “fun”, Harris and Walz.

Do you want an America for “progress” or, in Donald Trump’s words, an “America of carnage”?

ORIGINAL ENTRY, AUG 13:

Hoping to reclaim the narrative from the surging Presidential campaign of Kamala Harris, Donald Trump joined fellow narcissist Elon Musk on Monday for a two-hour advertisement on X.

It didn’t quite work out.

The issue wasn’t just the 40-minute delay, a technical problem which Musk covered up by declaring a “denial of service attack”. It was Trump’s rambling, slurred repetition of the same disinformation and lies that he has put out at rally after rally and in tweet after tweet.

I joined Dublin NewsTalk’s Pat Kenny Show to analyze the train wreck and to ask what Trump could do — but probably won’t — to stem the rise of Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.
