EA on UK and Irish Outlets: “Sacred Cause of the Nation” — Biden’s Speech and Kamala’s “We Won’t Go Back” Campaign

UPDATE, JULY 29:

I joined Pakistan’s PTV World on Monday to evaluate Donald Trump’s threat with “you’re not gonna have to vote” in four years if he wins the US Presidency in November.

I also explain how the surge in the Kamala Harris campaign has put Trump and his associates on the back foot, with serious errors such as the naming of J.D. Vance as Vice President and Trump’s misogynist insults of Harris.

ORIGINAL ENTRY, JULY 28: I joined BBC Radio Wales’ Vaughan Roderick to analyze how the US Presidential campaign changed in a week, juxtaposing the surging enthusiasm for Vice President Kamala Harris — who replaced President Joe Biden after his withdrawal last Sunday — with the frustrated, insult-filled rhetoric of wannabe autocrat Donald Trump.

Listen to Discussion from 38:14

I begin with Trump’s declaration to Christians, via a meeting organized by the conservative group Turning Point Action in Florida, that if he wins in November, “In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.”

An embarrassed Trump campaign is trying to claim — without any supporting quote from the candidate — that he was referring to a subsequent Trumpist landslide in the 2028 election.

But I put the statement in the context of Trump’s complaint about a “rigged” election in 2016, when he lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton; his effort to overturn the 2020 election culminating in the coup attempt of January 6, 2021; and his pledge to “act like a dictator on Day 1” of his return to the White House.

He was making clear an intention: “There’s no need for a further election if you put me into the White House this time.”

Donald Trump believes he is beyond accountability in a legal sense. He also believes he is beyond accountability in a political sense.

I also discuss the immediate success of the Harris campaign, mobilizing supporters, winning over undecided voters, and putting Trump on the defensive.
