A bombing in Syria’s capital Damascus has killed one Assad regime soldier and wounded 11.

The regime’s military acknowledged the casualties, saying an improvised explosive device was detonated about 7:25 a.m at a customs roundabout near Omayyad Square.

Anti-Assad factions and the Islamic State have periodically attacked military buses. Last October, 14 troops were killed when a device attached to a bus detonated in Damascus. Last month, an Islamic State attack killed five soldiers and wounded 20 on the road from Deir ez-Zor to Palmyra.
