I joined talkRADIO’s Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije for a 10-minute discussion on Saturday about issues in UK politics, from paying for social care and the National Health Service to the debate over Coronavirus vaccinations for all 12-15 years olds.
Listen from 9:30 in 1730-1800 Segment
First, we consider the Johnson Government’s quandary after it promised — but did not deliver — a plan to deal with a critical shortage of funding for health care. Does it removed the “triple lock” on pensions, risking a backlash from older voters? Or does it raise National Health Insurance payments, putting the cost on those who are younger?
Then I explain carefully the issues over whether only 10% of the UK’s 3 million 12 to 15 year-olds are vaccinated, or whether — like most European countries, Israel, the US, Canada, Australia, and others — all are given the Coronavirus vaccine.

Why didn’t doctors listen to women about the link between Covid vaccines and periods? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/didnt-doctors-listen-women-link-covid-vaccines-periods/
“A new study reveals that thousands of women experienced irregularities after their jab – yet the medical establishment seems disinterested”
From the same article:
“This week, a study in the BMJ revealed that almost 35,000 British women have reported that following their vaccination against Covid, they have experienced more painful and/or irregular periods. A month later, they were back to normal.
Dr Victoria Male, a lecturer in reproductive immunology at Imperial College London, who led the work, said that all the main vaccines – Pfizer, Moderna, AZ Oxford – were involved, but there has been no suggestion of a long-term impact on fertility.”

“Although the benefits of primary COVID-19 vaccination clearly outweigh the risks, there could be risks if boosters are widely introduced too soon, or too frequently, especially with vaccines that can have immune-mediated side-effects (such as myocarditis, which is more common after the second dose of some mRNA vaccines,3 or Guillain-Barre syndrome, which has been associated with adenovirus-vectored COVID-19 vaccines4). If unnecessary boosting causes significant adverse reactions, there could be implications for vaccine acceptance that go beyond COVID-19 vaccines. Thus, widespread boosting should be undertaken only if there is clear evidence that it is appropriate.”
Varharan,
You left out this from the article re Singapore:
“Singaporean health authorities say their vaccination drive has held down seriously ill patient numbers, noting that they have no plans to impose strict restrictions on economic and other activities at the moment.”
Your misrepresentation of the Lancet article has been edited.

Malta – one of the most vaccinated nations in the world – continues to suffer Covid deaths: https://www.euronews.com/travel/2021/09/14/which-eu-country-is-leading-the-covid-19-vaccination-race
“It registered just 35 new COVID-19 cases on 13 September and had just 1,119 active cases across the country. Malta also recorded two deaths from COVID-19 in the same day, taking the overall pandemic total of deaths to 449.”
35 cases and just two deaths may seem like not a lot, but this is a tiny country. It is significant.
Varharan,
In fact, the 7-day average of cases in Malta has fallen from 206 on July 20 to 35 on September 13.

Countries with high vaccination rates (Malaysia, Turkey, Germany Greece, Lithuania) facing a surge of cases and deaths:
Malaysia suffered a record 592 deaths recently and Germany’s death toll spiked to 122 yesterday: https://www.thesundaily.my/home/592-covid-19-deaths-place-malaysia-as-world-s-no-4-country-in-daily-fatalities-NB8322294

I watched the changing of the guard at Windser Castle today on TV and Queen Elizabeth requested the Star Spangled Banner be played.
There was not a dry eye in my house.
I have been anti-monarcky all my life but on this day I swear to God forevermore that I will never disrespect the Queen or her family so help me God!
Bill,
Thank you for this.

“China did not offer a single jab?”
You misunderstood me. The Chinese are now offering universal vaccination, but they managed to control the spread of the virus through severe lockdowns on Wuhan – imposed by the PLA – and an aggressive contact tracing campaign: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-00741-x
US nurses condemn the phrase “pandemic of the unvaccinated”: https://eu.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2021/09/07/why-mandated-universal-masking-needed-stop-covid-nurses/5693360001/
“As advocates for public health, registered nurses want to be extremely clear: There is no such thing as a pandemic of the unvaccinated.”
“The science of epidemiology tells us there is just one deadly, global pandemic that has not yet ended, and we are all in it together. To get out of it, we must act together. All of us….We’re all in this together, and if there are actions we all – regardless of vaccination status – can be taking to stop the delta variant from surging in our hospitals and our communities, we must do them. The public health messaging about “pandemic of the unvaccinated” plays to the worst aspects of human nature and does not encourage all people to practice the behaviors needed to curb this virus.”
Varharan,
You omitted that the point of the opinion piece was to urge *all* people to be vaccinated, wear masks, and observe social distancing — all the containment measures which you have opposed with your misinformation/disinformation.
S.
Nowhere have I opposed social distancing, the use of masks, testing and contact tracing. I do oppose the use of mass vaccination using mRNA vaccines whose safety and efficacy is dubious. China managed to control the situation without recourse to a single jab using methods that did not entail offering a single jab.
Varharan,
China did not offer a single jab?
“Mainland China has administered at least 2,129,833,000 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs 2 doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 76.2% of the country’s population.”

Nearly 300% more Covid patients in US hospitals at weekend than a year ago: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/sep/07/us-covid-patients-hospitals-surge
“The number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals across the US this Labor Day weekend was nearly 300% higher than this time last year, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. The average number of deaths was over 86% higher than the same period last year.”
Despite a mass vaccination campaign, the US is in a worse situation compared to the same period last year. Part of this is because of the emergence of more dangerous variants.
