I joined talkRADIO’s Alastair Stewart on Tuesday to discuss protest and politics from the Belarus to the US.
Listen from 17:49 in 0630-0700 Segment
We begin with the former Soviet republic, where long-time leader Alexander Lukashenko has been unable to violently repress mass demonstrations after an August 9 election which is widely viewed as rigged. Rallies are growing, and Lukashenko was embarrassed on Monday when his speech was punctuated by factory workers booing him and calling on him to resign. Will Russia’s Vladimir Putin prop him up or accept his fall?
We then discuss the opening of the Democratic National Convention in the US, with its message — from Michelle Obama to Bernie Sanders to the families of George Floyd and Coronavirus victims — that “the future of our democracy is stake”.
