I joined the BBC World Service’s Dan Damon on Thursday to discuss the forthcoming impeachment of Donald Trump, in light of new evidence about the Trump-Giuliani campaign pressing Ukraine for investigation of political rivals.

Listen to Discussion from 1:37

We discuss the extent of the revelations by Lev Parnas, a former Giuliani business associate and central figure in the campaign, and its significance for the attempt of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (pictured) to block any witnesses and documents during the trial.

I don’t know what happens when Donald Trump is not convicted by the Republican majority in the Senate.

I just go back to this: given the gravity of what we have not only from this evidence from Lev Parnas but from 17 current and former US officials, to not pursue this in a trial — to wish it all away, as Trump wants — would be to stomp on the US Constitution and the American system.
