I spoke with CNN International’s George Howell on Sunday morning about the Trump camp’s increasingly frantic attempts to hold back an impeachment inquiry over the Trump-Ukraine affair — from Donald Trump’s warning to GOP senators through insults of Sen. Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP Presidential nominee, to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s attempt to keep staff from testifying to Congressional committees.

The interview was conducted before the revelation of a second US intelligence official coming forward with information about Trump’s demand for investigation of Democratic rival Joe Biden — an official with “first-hand” knowledge of the July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
