Donald Trump with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the White House in 2017 (File)

With the CIA concluding that Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed bin Salman is responsible for the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, I joined Al Jazeera English’s Inside Story on Saturday to discuss if the Trump Administration will take action against the Crown Prince.

The other panellist is former CIA official Glenn Carle.

The White House will probably counter-brief, counter-spin against this CIA report and say that they are not convinced or that the intelligence is not rock solid.

Then you have a power struggle which has been there since the start of the Trump Administration. It’s not a question of whether you get Donald Trump in line — you’ll never get Trump in line — but whether you get the agencies in line and Congress on side.

You contain Donald Trump. You contain [Trump’s son-in-law and primary US contact with Mohammad bin Salman] Jared Kushner.
