As negotiations and political maneuvers — and, from Donald Trump and some GOP legislators, insults — continue over the sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh (pictured), I spoke with Austria’s Radio FM4 on Friday.

We discussed the next steps, with the Senate Judiciary Committee negotiating with Professor Christine Blasey Ford over her testimony as Republicans try to rush through Kavanaugh’s confirmation before November’s mid-term elections.

It is notable that Ford is quite willing to testify to the FBI and that she has taken a lie detector.
It is notable that Kavanaugh will not testify to the FBI.

Lying to the FBI is a felony, so there are multiple reasons why some people are against an FBI investigation, which are both political and legal.
