I joined CNN International on Sunday morning to discuss how a frantic White House, unsettled by the revelation that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has tens of thousands of e-mails for the Trump-Russia inquiry, and its media allies are trying to undermine the investigation, the FBI, and the Justice Department.

Watch from 14:29:

See

The White House didn’t know that Mueller had these e-mails. That means that when Jared Kushner and others were questioned this autumn, they went into that questioning unaware of all the information that the investigations had.

That is why the White House is extremely alarmed. And that is why they are trying even harder to undermine Mueller and discredit him.

On the significance if Trump tries to fire Mueller:

This would be the biggest showdown in American history since Richard Nixon tried to do the same thing over Watergate by firing Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox. With each revelation of how close Mueller is getting to Trump and his inner circle — and I think he is very close — the likelihood increases.

But I think Donald Trump brings the White House crashing down if he does this.
