I joined CNN on Wednesday to consider whether the Republican Party and Donald Trump have turned a corner with the GOP’s narrow victory in the special election for the Georgia 6th District seat in the House of Representatives.

No — at least for Mr Trump.

Bluntly put, while the Republicans may have gotten a bit of breathing space by clinging to the seat — and thus a semblance of legitimacy for now — the headlines will quickly return to the Trump-Russia investigations. And that will likely ensure that, while the GOP scrambles for some legislative victory such as the repeal of ObamaCare, it will have to do so with a struggling and even paralyzed White House — “death by a 1000 political cuts”.
