In late September, pro-Assad airstrikes knocked out the M10 hospital in eastern Aleppo city.

A nurse at the hospital, which was supported by the Syrian American Medical Society, said:

You cannot imagine what we see every day: children who are coming to us as body parts. We collect the body parts and wrap them in shrouds and bury them.

Tell the world to wake up, to wake their consciences. Where are you? When Palestine was being destroyed everyone got involved. Why are Syria’s children being forgotten? Nobody is doing anything to reduce this suffering.

No one intervened, and this week the disused hospital was occupied by the advancing pro-Assad forces in eastern Aleppo.

But the military victory was not enough for the Assad regime. As part of the ongoing propaganda battle to discredit medical and rescue services, State media had to portray a “terrorist-supported” facility which — contrary to the reality of the Russian-regime siege that has cut off food and supplies since late August — was well-stocked:

A regime medical official provides the script to damn those who tried to maintain health care amid the siege and bombing: “Most of the medications are of Turkish origin, some are from the USA, so the majority are from terrorism-support countries.”

Meanwhile, others remove equipment so it can be used — free from siege and bombing — in regime-held territory.
