Pro-Assad forces are claiming that they have regained a key area on the front west of Aleppo city, reversing a rebel offensive launched more than a week ago.

Hezbollah and Iranian forces, joined by Tiger Forces paramilitary units, recaptured the 1070 Housing complex after taking the hilltop of Tal Mut’ah. The takeover came after 72 hours of intense shelling and ground assaults.

Rebels had advanced in the 1070 complex in their summer offensive, holding part of it even after Russia and the Assad regime reimposed a siege of opposition areas of Aleppo city in late August.

Renewing their offensive on October 28, rebels sought regain the remaining parts of the complex and also move into the nearby 3000 Housing area.

However, the pro-Assad forces repelled two waves of attacks on the 3000 complex and also remained in a few buildings in 1070.
