Rami Jarrah, who has been reporting on Russian airstrikes on opposition-held parts of Aleppo city, goes to the scene of an attack on the Bayada section on Saturday (Warning — Graphic Images):
As men dig through the rubble, one shows Jarrah the bodies of cats with whom children were playing just before the airstrike. He addresses Bashar al-Assad:
Would you accept this on your children? No, you wouldn’t, because you’re the President. You’re free to do as you like.
Then Jarrah encounters a man searching for his son. Others try to calm him, “knowing that in fact his children have died”.
