In its latest videos, the Islamic State has paraded at least 21 captured Kurdish peshmerga in individual cages, in a convoy in northern Iraq.
The video shows each of the cages on the back of a pick-up truck, surrounded by Islamic State fighters and banners. A small crowd lines the street.
In another video, the captives are interviewed. Most say they are from Kirkuk, and all call on fellow peshmerga to give up their fight against the Islamic State.
The footage also includes images of the Islamic State’s recent beheadings of 21 Egyptians in Libya.
The Islamic State, which has held much of northern Iraq since last June, is in an escalating propaganda battle with the Iraqi Government, the Iraqi Kurds, and their allies. Last week, Iraqi and American authorities declared that an offensive to liberate the city of Mosul, the Islamic State’s central position in Iraq, would begin in April.
